Founded in 1992, Extec Ltd has built its reputation as New Zealand’s premier extrusion die manufacturer by embracing the toughest challenges in the industry. With a mission rooted in excellence, Extec has consistently delivered innovative, high-quality die solutions that help extruders keep metal flowing out the door.
Over 37 years, Extec has evolved into the only extrusion die maker in New Zealand, combining decades of expertise with a dynamic, youthful team. The company’s commitment remains unchanged: to manufacture the most outstanding extrusion dies within the industry. Extec is also committed to continuously refining designs through close collaboration and customer feedback.
Extec is more than a die maker. It’s a trusted partner for extruders when performance and quality matters most.
Morgan began his toolmaking apprenticeship in 1985 and completed it in 1989. His early career saw him transform from toolmaking to complex aluminium die correction, where he spent three years refining dies for 7- and 9-inch presses, gaining invaluable hands-on experience that would shape his future vision.
In 1992, driven by a desire to improve the quality of extrusion dies and frustrated by the subpar standards in the industry, he seized the opportunity to acquire a struggling die shop in Hamilton, New Zealand. From that bold move, Extec Ltd was born.
With a unique perspective as both a toolmaker and a former customer of die makers, Morgan focused on producing dies that required minimal correction and delivered exceptional performance. Without a doubt, his commitment to listening to customers and collaborating with die-correctors has been central to Extec’s success.
Today, Extec stands as New Zealand’s largest extrusion die manufacturer, supplying clients across the globe. Morgan continues to lead with the same passion and purpose that started it all, embodying the Extec Difference.
